Securing Walk-In Wardrobe Hanging Rails to Timber Studs

Wardrobes have to hold substantial weight. When installing walk-in wardrobe hanging rails or heavy shelving brackets, relying on plasterboard wall anchors is a recipe for disaster. Over time, the weight of clothes will cause the anchors to pull through the plasterboard, resulting in sagging or structural deflection.

In New Zealand homes, the gold standard is to locate the vertical timber studs behind the plasterboard. We use deep-wall stud finders to isolate the stud centers and anchor the rails directly into the framing with high-tensile steel cabinet screws. This ensures your wardrobe configuration remains structurally sound for years to come.
